Scott Cornwall Shine On Original Conditioning Hair Glaze* Review

30 Oct 2013

I was recently sent the Shine On Original Conditioning Hair Glaze* to try out. This product is a hair glaze that contains collagen and transparent particles to give your hair shine & lustre. It lasts up to 24 washes and can be used with colour treated hair. It's suitable for all hair types and takes only 20 minutes to apply & develop. It contains a unique 'diamond' clear molecule using ultra kind oxidation technology to seal the diamond molecules inside the hair. It doesn't contain any ammonia or harsh chemicals and uses an extra mild developer for increased hydration and protection of the hair.

It didn't take that long at all to apply the treatments but I did have the help of my sister! First you have to use the pre-cleanse treatment which is foamy like a shampoo to strip you hair of any product build up. You do this over wet hair twice to make sure it's super clean. This smelt really nice but it did feel like my hair was completely stripped and I didn't really like that at all. My hair was knotty and really hard to comb through so a lot of my hair fell out! Then you mix bottles 2 and 3 to make up the developing shine cream. My sister applied this to my damp hair and there was actually loads. I have a bob so there would be plenty here for longer hair and I still had loads left over after my whole head was covered. You then wait for 20 minutes for it to 'develop'. I jumped into the shower and massaged the rest of the cream into my hair for a minute or so then washed it out with clean water. I didn't use shampoo or conditioner. After I had washed it out my hair didn't necessarily feel that much smoother and I wasn't really impressed at this point. However I applied some leave-in blow dry spray and as I was blow-drying my hair, it did start to feel smoother. Then after I straightened it, you could definitely notice a difference in frizz and smoothness.

I forgot to take a before photo but here is afterwards:

As you can see my hair does look shiny but I wouldn't say that it had a dramatic difference. My hair is naturally quite shiny as it's dark so I don't think it had that much of a difference personally. It says to not wash your hair for 48 hours so the treatment can 'bond' to your hair and it supposedly lasts 24 washes. I would say my hair is slightly more manageable after using this treatment and has stayed straighter than normal which is a bonus.

Overall, I would say it's a great idea and if you're looking for a hair treatment to treat yourself to before a night out then I would say it's good but it's nothing that a good shampoo/conditioner and blow dry couldn't do or a bottle of cold water over your hair (my mum taught me this trick!)

You can buy it from Boots here for £12.99.

Have you ever tried any hair products like this? What did you think?

  1. Oooh, seems like a cool treatment! My hair is in such a state at the moment, terribly dry and brittle. :( x
